Who Are We?
Bound Studio is a publicly open rope space dedicated to teaching Shibari in a way that’s accessible, welcoming, and judgment-free. We’ve intentionally removed the kink-focused element from our instruction so that anyone—regardless of background, identity, or intention—can confidently learn the art of rope. Whether you're here for connection, creativity, or curiosity, our goal is to give you the tools and techniques to make Shibari your own.
Your instructor, Matt, is a seasoned rope top with over 8 years of hands-on experience and more than 100 workshops taught in the past year alone. He created Bound Studio with one mission: to make high-quality Shibari education approachable, fun, and empowering. From safety and technique to flow and form, every class is built to help you learn the right way—so you can confidently bring Shibari into your own personal life however it suits you best.

- No Formal Instruction, but happy to show you a few things!
- No Pressure to perform, just a chance to explore
- Ask questions, practice or simply hang out in our chill studio vibe!
What To Expect
At a Rope Jam, You Can:
- Practice some ties! And learn from others.
- Tie, watch, ask questions, or just hang out
- Meet other students and rope enthusiasts
- Explore at your own pace in a welcoming space
- Get a feel for what Bound Studio is all about
- Mr. Somerset is usually happy to perform a demo, or do a quick 20 minute lesson for beginners!
What To Wear
Coming For a Vibe Check or Date Night?
- Come as you are! Stop in, explore a bit and see for yourselves why people love our studio so much!
If You Want to Tie, Dress for comfort, movement, and connection.
- Stretchy, flexible clothing like yoga wear, gym clothes, or athleisure is ideal
- Avoid jeans or anything too tight or restrictive
- Choose clothing you'd feel comfortable moving and sitting in for extended periods
For Bunnies (the person being tied)
- Shorts and a tank top are recommended
- Rope works best with skin-to-rope contact—try to avoid full-coverage outfits
